An upset in the race for Dodge County sheriff. Sheriff’s Lieutenant Dale Schmidt defeated incumbent sheriff Pat Ninmann by a little more than 300 votes. “We’ve got a lot of excitement people are excited about this. Employees are excited we have somebody who is going to bring them together. We’ve got some leadership that’s going to make a change in Dodge County,” Schmidt said. Schmidt says he was receiving a lot of positive feedback right up to election day…but admits he still wasn’t sure how it would go. Ninmann says she’s disappointed but proud of her time as sheriff. Ninmann describes the loss as a hiccup in her law enforcement career… but doubts she will stay with the sheriff’s office in a different capacity when her term ends.
