8-14-14 fdl council appears supportive of strategic plan

The Fond du Lac city council appears supportive of a proposal to make a one time contribution of $10,000 to help fund a strategic plan for the city.  City Manager Joe Moore told the council Wednesday night  the idea was raised last fall by a  Leadership Fond du Lac project team that questioned why there was not an overall community vision for the greater Fond du Lac area.  City council president Sam Meyer says he will support the city contributing financially to the plan.  “The vision plan is overall I think a good idea,”  Meyer told WFDL news.  “There are a lot of good organizations that have been kind of marching to their own drum beat.   This allows all those organizations to come together and have a cohesive message and overall plan for the community. Moore says the Leadership Fond du lac team determined Houseal Lavigne Associates LLC of Chicago was deemed best consultant for the project that will culminate with publication of a “community vision” and strategic plan document.  Moore says he envisions the first phase of the project to begin sometime this fall.  Several organizations have tentatively pledged to contribute $10,000 or $15,000 each.
