8-20-14 drug endangered children

The Fond du Lac police chief says he’s hopeful a new collaborative effort will help at-risk children who are exposed to illegal drugs.  The Drug Endangered Children program was unveiled at a press conference recently.  Fond du lac police chief Bill Lamb says it’s a team effort between  police, social services, public health, probation and parole and the DA’s office.  Lamb says the program is particularily important with the explosion of heroin addiction locally.  “Essentially its an agreement with strategies mapped out that identify each of those organization’s responsibilities to what ultimately comes down to our collective ability to more effectively and efficiently respond to cases,”  Lamb said.  Fond du Lac school superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says the district welcomes the proactive program.  “Last year we did have more expulsion-type related offenses regarding drugs and alochol we were comfortable with,”  Sebert told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  “This continuous proactive approach is a real strong step forward.”
