8-20-14 wi primary

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Wisconsin’s elections board is anticipating recounts in three races following the Aug. 12 primaries.   A notice on the board’s website says it considers recounts likely in the 6th Congressional District and two state legislative districts. Recounts are not automatic in Wisconsin. Candidates must request them, and they can’t do that until counties finalize their election results. Government Accountability Board spokesman Reid Magney says it has asked counties to send in results for the close races on Tuesday. Results for other races are due Friday.  Magney says the board wants to prioritize races with likely recounts so the winners can move on to the general election.  State Sen. Glenn Grothman leads state Sen. Joe Leibham by only a couple hundred votes in the high-profile 6th District Republican primary.
