On August 21, 2014 at 2:06 PM the Fond du Lac Fire Department responded to a natural gas leak in the area of South Hickory and West Rolling Meadows Drive. A construction company was working in the area working when they struck a natural gas service line. Upon arrival fire crews evacuated the area and closed Rolling Meadows Drive until it was determined to be safe. Alliant Energy was contacted and arrived on scene rapidly to locate a line and clamp off the leak. Alliant Energy remained on scene to remedy the problem. There were no reported injuries. The Fond du Lac Police Department assisted with traffic control.
