Nobody was injured in a fire that caused smoke and water damage to a Brandon home Thursday. Brandon Fairwater fire chief Tom Dornbrook tells WFDL news kids playing video games early Thursday morning noticed a fire in the pantry area of the home at 97 Woodward Street. “They heard something coming from the back of the house and it got their attention away from the video games and they thought they smelled smoke so they got up to investigate,” Dornbrook said. “…walked into the back area of the home, sort of a porch and pantry area and they found flames and pretty heavy smoke.” The kids woke up the parents and two other children who were sleeping and tried to knock down the fire before calling the fire department. The cause of the fire appears to be electrical but remains under investigation.
