The candidates for the 6th congressional district seat have squared off in their first joint appearance of the campaign. Republican state senator Glenn Grothman and the Democratic candidate Winnebago County executive Mark Harris have been on the campaign trail for about a month since Grothman won the Republican primary in August. Both appeared at a forum hosted by the Fond du Lac Noon Rotary Monday. Grothman says he’s running to tackle issues that can’t be addressed in the Wisconsin legislature. “So now what I’d like to do is go to Washington and deal with other problems that I can’t address in the state legislature. Go after these regulations, go after the bad business climate we have in this country and improve things there.” Harris says he sees himself as the moderate candidate. “I want to propose reasonable solutions to the real problems that people face. Not the political issues we tend to get bogged down in.”
