Wisconsin consumers are gearing up for Black Friday and Wisconsin consumer protection officials are reminding you to have a plan.  Consumer protection administerator Sandy Chalmers says planning ahead can help minimize confusion about event-specific terms and limitations you may face in the stores. Chalmers tells WFDL news Wisconsin law requires stores to charge their lowest advertised price for a product and to refund and overcharge.

11-26-14 fdl woman charged with 5th owi

A Fond du Lac woman has been charged with her 5th owi.   Bail was set this week at $2000 cash for 63 year old Galina Luedtke.  Police say Luedtke was drunk when she crashed her vehicle into a parked car at Linden and 9th Streets Sunday night.  When officers arrived at the scene they say Luedtke was walking away from the scene.   Luedtke was convicted of her fourth […]

11-26-14 dassey takes appeal to federal court

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The man convicted of helping his uncle kill Teresa Halbach in Manitowoc County is taking his legal challenge to federal court.  Lawyers for Brendan Dassey recently filed a petition in federal court asking a judge to decide whether his arrest and conviction were legal.  Dassey was 16 when Halbach was killed in 2005 after she went to the Avery family auto salvage yard to photograph some vehicles. GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — A federal grand jury will hear the case against a University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh student accused of attempting to make the deadly toxin ricin.  The case will be forwarded to the grand jury now that Magistrate Judge James Sickel found probable cause exists that Kyle Smith knowingly possessed ricin. 11-25-14 former waupun cop charged in waupaca county burglaries

A former Waupun police officer is now accused of burglarizing supper clubs in Waupaca County.  Brad Young made his initial court appearance this month in connection with  two burglaries at a Fremont supper Club in 2012.  The 45 year old Young, is suspected in crimes in seven counties including Fond du lac and Green Lake.   He was arrested in August of last year following a high speed chase with […]

More than 50 accidents were reported on snow covered slippery roads in Dodge and Fond du lac counties yesterday afternoon and evening and again this morning.  Rescue personnel responded to crashes at Scott and Seymour and S. 11-25-14 state transportation development association supports dot budget
