The Fond du Lac school superintendent is defending a new standards-based grading and group learning system used in some high school math classes this year. A number of parents have expressed concerns about the new system. Parents of students who have always done well in school now say their kids are getting Ds and Fs, while parents of students who struggle at math say their kids are not being given adequate instruction. Fond du Lac superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says the new system was designed to establish clear expectations and provide better feedback to students. Sebert says he’s confident people will become more comfortable with it the more experience they have with it.
