12-18-14 coalition of business owners forms to oppose right to work

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A coalition of more than 300 construction-related private businesses in Wisconsin has formed to oppose a right-to-work proposal being discussed by Republican leaders in the Legislature.  The coalition was announced Wednesday by its spokesman Steve Lyons. He described the effort as a grass-roots movement that was being paid for voluntarily by members of the coalition. Lyons said more details about who is on the board of directors and leading the effort will be released in coming weeks.  Trade and construction unions strongly oppose right-to-work, under which workers are not required to join a union or pay dues as a condition of employment.  No unions are on the initial list of coalition members, but Lyons says members are continually being added.
