A new AAA study finds that driver distraction is a bigger factor in teen crashes than previously thought. AAA Wisconsin spokesman Nick Jarmuscz tells WFDL news the unprecedented video analysis finds that distraction was a factor in nearly six out of 10 moderate to severe crashes or four times as many as official estimates based on police reports. Jarmuscz says the study found the most common forms of distraction included passenger interaction, cell phone use, singing to music, grooming or reaching for an object. Jarmuscz says parents play a critical role in preventing distracted driving and should create parent-teen driving agreement that includes strict ground rules related to distraction.
