KIEL, Wis. (AP) — Law enforcement officers from across the nation joined hundreds of people mourning a 21-year-old Wisconsin state trooper killed last week in a shootout with a bank robbery suspect. Trevor Casper was remembered during a memorial service at the high school in Kiel where he graduated in 2011. Casper was killed Tuesday in a shootout that also left the bank robbery suspect dead. Casper had just graduated from the State Patrol’s academy in December and was on his first solo patrol when he was killed. Signs in front of Kiel businesses expressed sympathy for the family and flags were flown at half-staff. A private burial service for Casper is planned Monday.
