James Otto was selected as Marian University’s April Veteran of the Month. Otto served in the United States Air Force during the 1950s, and was stationed in Texas. Otto continues to serve his community through working with the Brandon Food Pantry, as well as organizing the Brandon Veterans Day program each year. The Veteran of the Month contest, presented by Marian University and Sunny 97.7/96.1 WTCX, highlights one area veteran each month. Each veteran chosen receives a plaque, an appreciation package from Marian University and Sunny 97.7’s sponsors, including a 3 credit undergraduate class which can be redeemed in summer session 2015, or in any of the adult undergraduate sessions. In addition, recipients are honored with a monthly ceremony at Marian University, and have the opportunity to share their story on the radio.
