The Fond du Lac Community Development director says an Art Board would enhance the city’s downtown Arts and Entertainment District. At their meeting Wednesday night the Fond du lac City council approved an ordinance creating an art board. Community Development director Diane Benson says after the Art Board has been established, staff would work on providing a list of candidates for appointment to the Board. The purpose of the Art Board is to serve in an advisory committee to the City Council with their focus on enhancing public art in the downtown. Benson says public works projects and city-assisted developments that occur within the business improvement district would be submitted to the Art Board for review and recommendations on opportunities to incorporate public art at minimal cost. The Art Board would seek non-city funding or private resources for public art recommendations that may require a more substantial investment.
