The Fond du Lac Plan commission will consider a zoning code amendment that would allow bee keeping in the city of Fond du lac at their meeting tonight. City attorney Deb Hoffman told the city council last week that beekeeping is allowed in a handful of Wisconsin communities and the list appears to be growing. UW Fond du lac offers a course on beekeeping and if an ordinance is enacted Hoffman says anyone seeking to keep bees in the city would be required to complete a training course. Hoffman says honey bees are very beneficial. The city council is expected to consider the matter at a May council meeting.
