Groups representing older residents and people with disabilities are expressing concern about cuts proposed in governor Walker’s budget. Public Policy director of the group Disability Rights Wisconsin, Lisa Pugh, told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program the governor’s proposed budget would dismantle the state’s Family Care and IRIS programs for older adults and people with disabilities. Pugh says there are currently more than 1,000 Fond du Lac county residents enrolled in Family Care and more than 100 peoople in the IRIS program. Pugh says the changes would jeopardize the county-run Aging and Disability Resource Centers by allowing the satte to contract out the services.
