AAA hopes a new study on driving habits will help guide what motorists can do to stay safe when behind the wheel. State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmuscz says the study found on average, Americans drive 29.2 miles a day, making two trips with an average total duration of 46 minutes. Both teenagers and seniors over age 75 drive less than any other age group. Jarmuscz says this is the first ongoing study that provides a look at when and how much Americans are driving. Jarmuscz says how much time Americans spend in the car will be compared to crash data. The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety and Urban institute study is based on telephone interviews with a nationwide sample of drivers who reported detailed information about all their driving trips taken the day before the interview.
