LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — Scott Walker says in four-plus years as governor he has transformed Wisconsin through the passage of numerous conservative priorities, including defunding Planned Parenthood, legalizing the carrying of concealed weapons and weakening public union power. Walker spoke at the state Republican Party convention Saturday in La Crosse. Breaking with tradition, Walker spoke to about 1,000 people at the center of the convention floor, rather than from the stage. Walker did not make reference to his own likely presidential run. But he did call on conference attendees to work to help Republicans win the White House next year. No Republican for president has carried Wisconsin since 1984. Walker also called for Republicans to help Ron Johnson win re-election to the U.S. Senate. Johnson is being challenged by Democrat Russ Feingold.
