The Fond du lac County Executive says a proposed state budget is a mixed bag when it comes to county government. Buechel updated the county finance committee on the state budget at a meeting this week. Buechel says he’s concerned that counties may have to pick up the tab for a proposal that calls for drug testing state benefit recipients. “We’re concerned about that since its likely the counties are going to be the ones that have to respond to this, one do the testing and two provide the services for people with the addiciton,’ Buechel told WFDL news. “There’s no new funding at this point that’s going to be recommended.” Meanwhile Buechel says with questions still looming over the transportation budget he’s concerned the Highway 23 project will again be put on the back burner.
