The Fond du Lac city council president is ready to pull the plug on the liquor licenses for the historic Retlaw Hotel in downtown Fond du Lac. The Alcohol and Licensing committee has voted not to renew the license because the hotel owes the city more than $60,000 in utility and property tax bills. The city council takes up the matter at their meeting Wednesday evening. Fond du lac city council president LeeAnn Lorrigan says the fact that no one representing the hotel attended the AlcoholLicensing committee meeting is telling. “I think that is a clear indication as far as their commitment to this community and the property is for sale,” Lorrigan told WFDL news. Lorrigan says she hopes that not renewing the license may speed up a potential sale of the property. Lorrigan says it’s a disappointing situation for the community and its time to move forward.
