6-26-15 fdl school superintendent responds to retiring teacher’s criticism

The Fond du Lac school district superintendent is responding to criticism from a former teacher who told the school board recently that the district is in decline.  Former middle school science teacher Ted Eischeid aired his concerns at a school board meeting earlier this month.  Fond du Lac school superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says he disagrees with Eischeid.  “Everybody has their own way of exiting and going out.  That’s the way that Ted is choosing to do it,”  Sebert told WFDL news.  “I just don’t have a lot of response other than we’re moving forward and we’re doing some great things in the Fond du Lac School District.”   Eischeid says the school board should ask why so many teachers have left the district in recent years…not to retire…but to work in other school districts.  Sebert says the district has talked about that.  “We know where people are going and why they’re leaving, they tell us in their letters.”  Sebert says the district has talked about doing a short, Google-type survey to gather more data on why teachers leave.
