Fond du lac state representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt was one of more than 30 Assembly Republicans who signed a letter sent to the governor and Senate GOP leaders asking that transportation funding be spread out equally across the state. Thiesfeldt says communities like Fond du Lac shouldn’t be taking a back seat to road projects in Milwaukee. “We’re all pumping dollars into the transportation budget, why should the dollars be slowed to zero for the rest of the state and it all goes to Milwaukee?” Thiesfeldt says a perfect example of that is the Highway 23 expansion project between Fond du Lac and Plymouth. DOT officials say that project would be delayed at least a year if the transportation budget is cut by $500 million.
