MILWAUKEE (AP) — A University of Wisconsin-Madison professor says she now regrets how her views on academic freedom came across on Twitter. Sara Goldrick-Rab is under fire for encouraging prospective students to go elsewhere because she believes academic freedom is in jeopardy at Wisconsin. She has acknowledged searching Twitter for future Badgers and says she wanted to inform them of changes to faculty tenure and shared governance. She has also tweeted that there are similarities between Gov. Scott Walker and Adolph Hitler, drawing the ire of conservatives. He critics now include the faculty governing group, which says her statements have hurt both academic freedom and the university. Goldrick-Rab says she may have worded things too strongly and was not looking to tear down the school.
