The UW Fond du Lac Dean says a decision will be made in the months ahead who will become the executive dean of the UW FDL, Manitowac and Fox Valley campuses. The consolidation and administrative staff cuts were announced this week in response to the state budget that slashes a quarter of a billion dollars from the UW system. UW FDL dean John Short says is a plan that punishes the local campus for being very frugal over the years. “Just unprecedented budget cuts. The biggest that we’ve ever suffered, combined with a freeze on tuition, ” Short told WFDL news. “We have to come up with a model that will allow us to balance the books. We have to have a budget that’s in line with the revenues that are coming in.” Short says he’s concerned how the consolidation and new plan will impact the two year college’s commitment to their individual communities.
