A proposed McDermott Park lease agreement between the city of Fond du lac and Winnebago Lutheran Academy is on hold. Public Works director Jordan Skiff said in a memo to the advisory board two major discoveries could alter the discussion surrounding the proposal. A portion of the park where the proposed athletic fields were planned is designated as a floodway, making matters complicated and costly. Skiff said WLA may also have the authority to build a parking lot in another section of the park thanks to a lease agreement with the city. Skiff said as a result the advisory park board will not be asked to vote on the proposal at their meeting Monday night. The city had proposed entering into a 50 year lease agreement that would have allowed WLA to build new baseball diamonds and expand a parking lot in the park.
