Two multiple vehicle accidents on Highway 23 east of Fond du Lac recently again raise concern about whether the highway should be widened to four lanes. A project to expand the highway between Fond du Lac and Plymouth is on hold because of a lawsuit and cuts to the state transportation budget. Sheriff’s captain Rick Olig says two accidents involving multiple vehicles including semi tractor trailers probably would not have happened with a four-lane highway. Olig says he agrees with the Mt. Calvary fire chief who suggested making a section of Highway 23 a no-passing zone in the area of Tower Road and Seven Hills Road.
