The Fond du Lac city council will consider ordinances at their meeting Wednesday night that would allow food trucks and pedal pubs in the city. City council vice president Gary Miller says a proposed mobile food vendor ordinance is designed to allow greater flexibility and opportunities for food trucks and pushcarts. Under the ordinance food trucks must be located 100 feet away from a licensed restaurant unless they have the owner’s permission, they would not be allowed in Lakeside Park or within 500 feet of the farmer’s market or other special event without permission. On the other hand Miller says he’s undecided on how we will vote on a proposed pedal pub ordinance. “I and other councilmembers have received some strong letters from different organizations within the community, within the county opposing the quadricycles because their issue is binge drinking,” Miller told WFDL news. Pedal pubs, also known as quadricycles, are multi-person bicycles that can hold up to 12 riders and a driver that steers. The new law allows each passenger to consume up to 36 fluid ounces of alcohol during their ride.
