8-13-15 fdl council will consider lakeside park exploratory committee recommendations during budget deliberations

The Fond du lac Public Works director says the city council may be asked to consider investing millions of dollars over the next decade to implement recommendations from a Lakeside Park exploratory committee.  Jordan Skiff presented his department’s preliminary budget message at Wednesday night’s city council meeting.  Skiff the first step is a master plan for Lakeside Park.  “That was one of the big recommendations from the committee and we agree wholeheartedly,”  Skiff said.  Skiff says the cost to implement the recommendations could be in the neighborhood of  $2-$3 million over the next decade.  “We’re also taking a look at restrooms, a bridge connecting Lakeside Park to Lakeside Park west, new boat ramps and new boat launches, we’re looking at a beach, and obviously many of these are quite a ways down the road,”  Skiff said.  Other highlights of the Public Works budget include a a proposal to enter into a new contract that would have Waste Management provide both recycling and garbage collection.  Skiff says that could save the city approximately $100,000 a year over the next ten years.
