A preliminary Fond du lac School District budget includes a nearly five percent increase in the tax rate and staff reductions. The School board met in a workshop this week to review preliminary budget figures. Business manager Wendy Brockert says the budget includes a tax rate of just over $10 per thousand of property value…up from $9.57 last year. The owner of a $100,000 home would see an increase of about $45. Under the state budget the Fond du lac School District would see about $1.5 million less in state aid. Staff reductions would include not filling vacant teacher positions at Fondy Central, the STEM Academy, a technology coach, two media specialists and five instructional assistants. The school board is expected to give preliminary budget approval at their August 24th meeting.
