Bail was set at $50,000 cash for a cold case murder suspect facing new drug-related charges in Fond du lac County. Dennis Brantner made his initial Fond du Lac court appearance Friday on charges on multiple counts of bail jumping, possession of narcotic drugs, possession of a controlled substance and possession of an illegally obtained prescription. The charges carry a maximum prison sentence of more than 20 years in prison. According to a criminal complaint the drugs were found hidden in Brantner’s boot when he was booked into the Fond du lac County Jail after his arrest last March. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 15th. Branter was convicted earlier this week in Kenosha County of a charge of a felon in possession of a firearm. Brantner is being held on a million dollars cash bail on a charge of first degree murder in the July 1990 death of Berit Beck in Fond du Lac County.
