The Fond du Lac County Board has approved spending $800,000 to purchase 37 acres of land south of Fond du Lac for a new county highway garage. County Board chairman Marty Farrell says he believes the new site at Scott and Hickory Roads is a good location. “The Highway Committee, Highway Commissioner and County Executive looked at over a dozen possible sites. Accessibility to the major highways is very important,” Farrell told WFDL news. “I’m very satisfied with all the briefings that I’ve had that they looked as exhaustively as they could.” Farrell says he believes there’s a possibility of moving up construction of the garage which is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2021. The highway garage is currently located on Dixie Street in the city of Fond du Lac.
