10-19-15 berit beck murder suspect bound over for trial on drug charges

A Kenosha truck driver charged in the cold case slaying of a Sturdevant  teenager has been bound over for trial on drug charges in Fond du lac County.   Probable cause was found at a preliminary hearing Thursday for Dennis Brantner on  five felony bail jumping counts, three counts of possession of narcotics and two misdemeanor drug possession counts.  The charges carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. According to a criminal complaint the drugs were found hidden in Brantner’s boot when he was booked into the Fond du lac County Jail after his arrest last March.  Branter was convicted back in August in Kenosha County of a charge of a felon in possession of a firearm.  He is being held in the Fond du lac County Jail on a million dollars cash bail on charges of first degree murder. Brantner was charged in the July 1990 murder of Berit Beck after his fingerprints matched prints found in Beck’s van.    She disappeared after stopping at the Fond du lac Forest Mall while on her way to a work seminar in Appleton.  Her body was found about a month later in a roadside ditch near Waupun. He’s scheduled to go on trial in June.
