10-19-15 tomah va medical center gets new interim director

OMAH, Wis. (AP) — The troubled Tomah Veterans Affairs Medical Center has a new interim director. Victoria Brahm began work October 5th and is expected to serve through Jan. 31 when a permanent director is expected to be in place. She replaces interim director John Rohrer, who took over temporarily in March.  U.S. Representative Ron Kind visited the hospital Friday to meet with Brahm. He says she’ll continue to implement reforms begun under Rohrer, but there will be a new and improved action plan.  The Tomah VA hospital was rocked in January by reports of inappropriate dosages of narcotic pain killers and retaliation against employees who questioned the practice. The reports led to the dismissal of director Mario DeSanctis and medical chief of staff David Houlihan.
