The Fond du Lac County executive has officially presented a proposed 2016 budget to the county board. Tuesday night marked the 23rd time County executive Al Buechel has delivered a budget presentation to board supervisors. ‘We’re going to continue with programs, services and we are not having across the board layoffs of people,” Buechel said. “The levy is up a little bit but the tax levy is the same.” New in the budget includes $15,000 for a Lake Winnebago coordination effort with other lake counties. ‘Every county is doing something, its what can we do to improve the health of the lake as we move forward? Its going to continue to deteriorate if we don’t do something,” Buechel said. The budget also includes funds to replace the county’s e911 telephone system, and $275,000 for a virtual shooting range that will be installed in the basement of the jail. “Its a computer program that projects on screens where criminals will pop up with a gun in their hand and the officer has to respond,” Buechel said.
