Waupun police say a hit and run incident is a case in point that even if you think everything may be okay…you still have to notify authorities if you have been involved in a motor vehicle accident. Police say a Waupun man struck a woman in a crosswalk but left the scene before police arrived. Deputy police chief Scott Louden says the driver says he got out of the car and asked if the woman was okay before he left. Louden says while it may not be your typical hit and run, the driver still went through a stop sign and struck a pedestrian and should have stayed at the scene until officers arrived. Louden says in this case the woman came back to the police department later in the evening to report she had received at least minor injuries. Waupun police are continuing their investigation to determine what charges or citations will be issued.
