A Ripon college political science professor says how congressman Paul Ryan fares as House speaker could determine whether he runs for president in the future. Professor Marty Farrell says Ryan is answering the call of his party. Farrell says if Ryan can bring some sense of unity to the party that would certainly burnish his leadership credentials. “I think he probably still harbors some presidential ambitions, as Speaker of the House you’re second in succession to the president and if he can be successful there it should help his future ambition,” Farrell told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program. Farrell says the big question is can Ryan appease the group of about 30 conservative Republicans who forced John Boehner to resign?
