Fond du lac police say misleading information or misinformation posted on Facebook or released on an App from police scanner traffic is doing a disservice to the public. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says a recent example involved inaccurate posts on social media regarding a possible armed man on the Marian University campus. Klein says that caused an unnecessary panic. Klein says in other situations police scanner traffic may be posted only to learn later the situation was not what it seemed when the call came in. Klein says that can make it difficult for law enforcement responding to a call and trying to dispel false information at the same time.
