The Fond du Lac County Sheriff doesn’t want a convicted violent sex offender from Milwaukee County living in Fond du Lac County. Sheriff Mick Fink says he received a letter from the Department of Health Services three days before Thanksgiving that Clint Rhymes was going to be placed at a town of Eldorado residence. Fink wrote back stating his refusal to the department’s placement. “I was surprised and I was surprised by the timing of it,” Fink told WFDL news. “I’m always upset, it seems like they (DHS) run down the clock with a surprise, you’re getting a sex offender.” Fink says he also learned Rhymes was initially placed in Milwaukee County until a Milwaukee County supervisor requested he be placed in another area. “I have stood shoulder to shoulder with the Department of Corrections (DOC) on many occasions at Public Notification of Sex Offender Release meetings for people convicted in this county. This “statewide search” order appears to be a clear case of “Not in my back yard” due to Milwaukee Alderman Toney Zielinski requesting the court not to have Rhymes placed in his district. What really upsets me is that at the end of the day they’ll look at a chief or sheriff and say here you go you’re getting him, you come and stand in front of the public and tell them they don’t have a choice,” Fink said In addition to sexual assault, Rhymes was also convicted of attempted first degree intentional homicide. Fink says he is concerned the Nitschke Road address in Van Dyne is a remote location that affords little protection for the other residence in that immediate area. “I don’t think this passes the smell test or the straight face test at all because they’re sending what appears to be a very violent offender from Milwaukee County and want to place him up on Nitschke Road and I think the citizens up there have a right to know prior to that decision being made on the (December) 16th by the judge,” Fink said. An informational meeting will be held next week at the Eldorado Town Hall (N7664 County Road C Eldorado, WI). Fink says he will be hosting an information meeting and will be joined by Corporation Counsel Meggin McNamara and District Attorney Eric Toney at this meeting. This meeting will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. All township/county residents as well as Senator Rick Gudex and Representative Michael Schraa are invited to attend. Fink will be a guest at 9:30am on AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.
