A new report that lists the laziest cities in all 50 states…says Fond du Lac is the laziest city in Wisconsin. The news came as a surprise to Fond du lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller. “There are a lot of other cities in Wisconsin and for them to label Fond du Lac as being the laziest city, I was very surprised,” Mueller told WFDL news. The report by 24/7 Wall St says Fond du Lac residents are not as active as statewide residents , and have a slightly higher obesity rate than the state average. The report also says populations with higher levels of education are often more physically active and vice versa. Just 21 percent of Fond du Lac adults have at least a bachelor’s degree, the second lowest in the state. Mueller says whether or not you agree with the report’s conclusions, the bottom line is Fond du Lac has work to do. “That’s what it comes down to is we do have a problem, we know we have a problem,” Mueller said. “Just because we’re labeled the laziest doesn’t mean we’re doing the worst as far as creating initiatives and working with community partners to really amp up our efforts on combating obesity.”
