12-4-15 median household income in wisconsin drops

New data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows the median household income fell in two- thirds of Wisconsin counties between 2009 and 2014.  Census data released Thursday shows incomes fell  by at least 10 percent in 10 counties.  Vilas County saw the steepest decline at 13.3 percent.  The news comes after a Dane County judge dismissed a lawsuit against Governor Scott Walker to force an increase in the minimum wage.  The liberal group Wisconsin Jobs now had brought the lawsuit.  Wisconsin Jobs Spokeswoman Lisa Lucas says the new census data shows raising the minimum wage is long overdue.  “I don’t think you can find anybody who still believes that the minimum wage is doing okay at $7.25 an hour,”  Lucas told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines priogram.   Wells Fargo Funds Management strategist Brian Jacobsen says the figures aren’t surprising given the nation’s slow economic recovery.
