12-8-15 town of eldorado-sex offender information meeting

Van Dyne area residents packed the Eldorado Town Hall Monday night  to voice their opposition to the planned placement of a convicted violent sex offender in their community.  A planned supervised release calls for Clint Rhymes to be placed at a residence on Nitschke Road in the town of Eldorado.   Residents  in attendance at the information meeting want to know why someone from Milwaukee County would be relocated here.  Town chairman Gary Miller says the town board approved an ordinance at a special meeting Monday morning that says the town will not accept sex offenders from outside the county.  Rhymes was convicted in Milwaukee County of sexual assault and attempted homicide.  Fond du Lac County executive Al Buechel is upset that Rhymes would be shipped here.  “I resent it.  That’s an individual who was sentenced in Milwaukee County 26 years ago.  They need to have him down there where he is at home,”  Buechel said.  “Clearly this man will have no social connections. no friends, no relaatives in this area and his chances of success are even that much more diminished because of that.”   Meggin McNamara is the Fond du Lac County Corporation Counsel.   She questions the placement process.  “I think its unfortunate that we don’t know where else they looked.  They haven’t indicated to us that any of the surrounding communities in Milwaukee County have been evaluated for potential placement,”  McNamara told WFDL news.  “That is concerning to us because you would like to see an offender reintegrated into a community that they’re coming from and have those supports in place.”
