12-9-15 fdl city manager-retlaw hotel future

The Fond du Lac city manager says he’s optimistic a new buyer will be found for the Retlaw Hotel.  After struggling financially for several years, and placed in receivership earlier this fall, the historic  landmark hotel closed its doors last week.  City manager Joe Moore says  he hopes some potential investors who may have expressed an interest in the hotel in the past but were turned off by the asking price now take a second look at the building.  Moore says while its not a good thing to see the landmark building vacant, he says the way the hotel has been operated for the past few years has been a deterrent to the downtown.  “I’m pretty optimistic about the Retlaw’s future,”  Moore told WFDL news.  “Its going to be a difficult next few months as things are sorted out but I think in the end its probably healthy that this is finally going to get sorted out.”
