12-10-15 oshkosh state lawmaker working on legislation regarding placement of violent sex offenders

An Oshkosh state representative says he will be introducing legislation that would require convicted sex offenders who are released from prison to be placed in the county where they committed the crime.  State representative Michael Schraa says he is working with Republican state senator Rick Gudex on the bill in response to a supervised release plan that would place a violent sex offender from Milwaukee at a residence near Van Dyne.  The placement of convicted sex offender Clint Rhymes was the focus of an informational meeting at the Eldorado town hall this week.  Schraa’s district includes that township. “My ultimate responsibility and reason I want to be fully involved in this process is my constituents well being,”  Schraa told WFDL news.  “Its a fine line I have to walk because this is a sensitive issue for a lot of people.  They don’t want these violent, sexual offenders in their neighborhood which I totally get.”
