A Waupun man has been charged with a Child Sex Offender Working With Children. Fifty year old David Edwards made his initial Fond du Lac court appearance this week. Waupun police chief Dale Heeringa says Edwards was arrested following a trucker’s parade last August. Edwards is accused of working on a float in the parade with children and giving a young girl a ride in his vehicle after the parade. “At the end of the parade the vehicle pulling the float pulled off to the side to go back to where they started from and they (public) noticed there was a young girl they suspected to be 10 to 12 years of age that was helped off the float and into the vehicle and then drove off with just the two of them,” Heeringa told WFDL news. Heeringa says there was no inappropriate contact between Edwards and the girl. But Heeringa says Edwards later admitted he knew that he was not supposed to have any contact with children.
