12-9-15 fdl judge rejects motion to dismiss drug charges against cold case murder suspect

A Fond du Lac judge has denied a motion by the attorney for a Kenosha man charged in a cold case murder  to dismiss drug charges against his client.  Dennis Brantner is charged with bail jumping and drug possession after the drugs were found hidden in his boot when he was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail last spring.   At a motion hearing this week  judge Peter Grimm denied a motion by Brantner’s attorney to dismiss the charges.  A trial is scheduled to begin January 6th.  The charges carry a maximum sentence of more than 20 years in prison.  Meanwhile Brantner is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on a million dollars cash bail on charges of first degree murder.  He was charged in the 1990 murder of Berit Beck after his fingerprints were found in Beck’s van.  She disappeared after stopping at the Fond du Lac Forest Mall while enroute to a work seminar in Appleton.  Her body was found about a month later in a roadside ditch near Waupun.
