The North Fond du Lac police chief says he thinks current state law behooves communities like North Fond du Lac to pass ordinances banning out of county sex offenders. The issue came to light locally in December when the state tried to place a violent sex offender from Milwaukee County in the town of Eldorado. The state withdrew its plan when the township passed an ordinance. Pautsch says as more communities pass ordinances banning out of county sex offenders its going to force the hand of the state to do something about it.
