2-16-16 waupun school officials planning for major facilities referendum

Waupun school officials are laying the groundwork for a possible major facilities referendum in the November election.  A Facilities Advisory Committee has been meeting over the last wseveral months to revuiew district facility needs.  Superintendent Tanya Gubin says committee members have toured district facilities and later this month plan to review options and discuss prioritizing district needs.  Gubin says although no specific numbers have been discussed, the referendum could be in the neighborhood of $30 million.  She says a major component would be addressing building infrastructure including boilers and windows.  Gubin says other concerns include building capacity, classrooms, and site layout.  She says there is also discussion about building out the Ag and Tech Ed Department and adding an athletic complex at the high school could also be a part of the plan.  The facilities committee is expected to present its final recommendations at the June school board meeting.
