For the second meeting in a row the North Fond du Lac village board has tabled action on a proposed sex offender ordinance. The ordinance would ban the placement of out of county sex offenders in the village. But village administrator Chuck Hornung says state officials pointed out at a recent meeting that such ordinances can have unintended consequences. “We just want to make sure that we’re not doing a knee-jerk reaction here and we’re not causing other problems by creating a strict ordinance,” Hornung told WFDL news. The ordinance was proposed after the state tried unsuccessfully to place a violent sex offender from Milwaukee in the town of Eldorado.
