The senate Democratic leader is again renewing a call for legislative hearings into alleged abuse at the Lincoln Hills juvenile prison following the abrupt resignation of the Department of Corrections Secretary. The governor’s office announced Friday that DOC secretary Ed Wall had resigned. Senator Jennifer Schilling says the legislature should immediately assert its oversight authority and hold hearings on the safety and treatment of children at Lincoln Hills. Schilling says she is also upset that Wall is on paid administrative leave before he goes back to his old job at the Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation. Schilling says she believes Wall’s future employment with the state is “very, very uncertain at this point.”
