MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Freshman Marcus Domask scored a team-high 15 points to lead Waupun to its first WIAA Division 3 state championship on Saturday with a 59-58 victory against Appleton Xavier. Xavier’s Hunter Plamann had a chance to tie from the free-throw line after being fouled on a 3-point attempt, but missed the last of three foul shots with 2.9 seconds left. Plamann got the offensive rebound and missed a game-winning bucket at the buzzer. Plamann finished with a game-high 20 points for the Hawks (24-4), who also lost to Brown Deer in the 2015 state title game. Owen Theune scored 13 points and had a team-high eight rebounds for the Warriors (27-1), who were making their first trip to the finals in 89 years, and just their second in program history.
